Mayor frames committee to probe irregularities in parking slots’ allotment

JAMMU, Dec 28: Mayor Jammu, Rajinder Sharma announced constitution of seven members committee to probe into the irregularities in allotment of parking slots under Smart City Project in Jammu.
Talking to reporters here, today the Mayor said the seven member committee is having councilors and retired technical officers of different departments as its members. He said in the Committee three councilors are from BJP, one from Congress and one independent. Disclosing the names of members, he said they included Ashok Singh Manhas, Gopal Gupta, Surjit Singh, Rachpal Bhardwaj and Amit Gupta respectively. In the Committee two numbers are retired officers namely Dinesh Ram Paul (retd) Chief Engineer, PWD and Yash Paul Khajuria (retd) Chief Accounts Officer, he added.

Mayor said that the Committee shall investigate the whole process of allotment of parking slots under Smart City and submit their report within 15 days and if any irregularities were found, the matter will be forwarded to the investigating Agencies of the UT.
Mayor said that in the General House meeting, a decision was taken regarding constitution of Consultative Committees of councilors to deal with the important issues related to the administration of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC). He said in the General House meeting he had made it clear that Government will take stern action against the people responsible for incurring loss to the exchequer of JMC. “No body will be allowed to waste public money at any cost and everybody will be made accountable”, he added.
Mayor said that Jammu Municipal Corporation identified 33 parking slots and allotted them to Baba Infratech Corporation. Out of these 33 parking slots, the operational parking slots are near K.C Theater, opposite City Square, opposite Swaran Theater, Gandhi Nagar, Maharaja Hari Singh Park and D.C Office, Chowk, Jammu. One number of parking slot is partially operational at Parade near Brahman Sabha. The revenue generated by the Baba Infratech Corporation w.e.f. 01/03/2022 to 26/11/2022 is Rs 25.60 Lacs and the share of Jammu Municipal Corporation @ of 4% for this period is Rs 1.02 lac, he added.
