SRINAGAR, Dec 29: Syed Adil Zahoor, a 26-year-old resident of the Hajbal village of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, has brought honour to the valley by qualifying for the competitive Indian Statistical Services exam.

As a result of his success, Adil became the second Kashmiri to pass the ISS exam. The last Kashmiri to pass the exam is Haji Altaf, who is currently the Deputy Director General.
“The previous qualifier inspired me and gave me hope that I could succeed. I am glad that I have passed the exam on my first try,” he told Excelsior.
Syed Adil attended the Middle School in Hajibal for his primary education and the Government Degree College for Boys in Baramulla for his Bachelor’s degree in arts. He completed his Master’s Degree at the University of Kashmir and qualified for a Junior Research Fellowship in 2020. “The University professors encouraged me to take the ISS tests, and I am delighted that I successfully met their expectations,” he said.
He said that after succeeding in the Panchayat Assistant exams the previous year, he has since been employed as an Accounts Assistant at the Block Development Office in Qaziabad.
