JAMMU, Dec 30: Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan (BLSKS) in coordination with Sangam Tru Art Production and National College of Computer Education presented its 141st Friday series musical concert ‘Gurukul’ at Durga Bhawan Janipur, here today.
The program was inaugurated by chief guest Dr Anju Dogra, J&K Health Department, while VK Magotra, former Regional Director, Directorate of Field Publicity, GoI, Dr Tara Singh Charak, former Deputy Director, J&K Health Department and Mukesh Singh were the guests of honor.
The programme commenced with songs “Jai Saraswati Maa”, “Tamso Maa Jyotirgamay”, “Guru Bin Gyan Kahan Se Aye”, “Bin Guru Gyan Mmaha”, “Padho Padho Padho Loko” which were sung by the renowned artists, while the music was composed by music teacher Raju Bajgal.
The chief guest lauded the role of teachers and students and said that the idea of inculcating a ‘Gurukul’ system in Indian education is just to assist the children in understanding the concept of a balanced life. Dr Dogra also underlined the importance of staging of such plays in all parts of the UT to generate the awareness of culture of our country and urged the artistes/ cultural organization to contribute in enriching the cultural heritage and inspiring the younger generation to follow foot prints of their elders in preserving the composite culture of the nation.
Earlier, the welcome address was given by Dr ML Dogra, and said that the relationship between Guru and ‘Shishya’ is so sacred and no fee was taken from the students. However, the student had to offer a ‘Gurudakshina’ which was a token of respect paid to the teacher. It was mainly in the form of money or a special task that the student had to perform for the teacher, he said.
The singers, musicians, actors and students of Music and Computer Institute were Rajni Gupta, MC Kotwal, Naiya Digra, Renu Bala, Sudesh Devi and Sanjeev Kumar, while Deepak Kumar presented vote of thanks.
