REASI Dec, 31: A mobile free testing camp for commercial drivers was organised by the Motor Vehicle Department in collaboration with Rotary Eye Hospital Udhampur on Katra-Jammu road for commercial vehicle operators under the supervision of ARTO, Reasi Rajesh Gupta here today.
Around 150 drivers were checked and sensitized about the importance of following traffic norms.
According to ARTO, seven drivers were detected for colour blindness and counseled them on spot . They were told that the purpose of this camp was to ensure that people with poor eye sight are not allowed to drive, especially in foggy conditions.
Those drivers with eyesight problems were asked to get spectacles at the earliest.
The ARTO emphasized that the main objective of organising this camp made aware the drivers to check their eyes frequently to avoid any mishappening so that the drivers as well as passengers should be safe on road.
Besides this, the team ARTO Reasi conducted checking on this route as well as to address the complaint regarding overcharging by three wheelers in which eight were challened and two vehicles were seized on spot, overall an amount of Rs.50000 was realized from the violators for various violations.
