FCS&CA seals 24 mutton shops in Srinagar

Srinagar, Dec 31: The Enforcement Wing of the Department of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) today said to have sealed 24 mutton shops in various parts of Srinagar city.
The officials said that the Enforcement squad of the Department under the leadership of Assistant Director Enforcement Mushtaq Ahmad Wani conducted a market checking drive in various areas of Srinagar City.
“During market checking 141 business establishments were inspected & a penal sum of rupees 23000.00 (twenty-three thousand only) has been collected as fine from 16 erring shopkeepers for violation of the Essential Commodities Act, 1955,” it said, adding 24 mutton shops were also sealed.
Officials said that in December 2022 in the entire valley, an amount of Rs Nine lac thirty-six thousand and two hundred has been collected as a fine from 1961 erring traders for violations. They said 260 establishments also stand sealed.
“The erring traders have been reprimanded and have been directed to remain careful in future. The drive will continue in the same passion in future as well & whosoever found violating the norms will be brought to book.”
