UDHAMPUR, Jan 1: Police today seized 19kg of poppy straw from a car at Jakhani, National Highway under the jurisdiction of Police Station Udhampur.
According to the Udhampur police today a Swift Dzire car, bearing registration number DL8CAW-0756 was coming from Srinagar and it was intercepted by a Police team of Police Station Udhampur, headed by SHO Raghubir Singh, this afternoon around 1215 hours.
During search, one plastic bag containing 19 kg poppy straw was found in dickey of said the car following which its driver was arrested on the spot.
The arrested driver was identified as Rayees Ahmed Moochi, son of Abdul Aziz Moochi of Mohammad Pora Kulgam. Police seized the recovered poppy straw as well as the car.
In this connection, case FIR number 01/2023, 8/15 under relevant NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Udhampur.
