HPCL conducts mock fire drill

Mock fire drill at Jammu on Saturday.

JAMMU, Oct 26: Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) conducted mock fire drill based on Disaster Control Management Plan at its Jammu LPG Plant.
The fire drill was witnessed by officials from IOCL, J&K Fire Services Department, J&K Police, ESIC Hospital and other mutual aid partners.
The drill was conducted at tank truck gantry with team officials and workers fighting fire from all the corners with the help of the state of art technology safety equipments and auto fire fighting system of the plant. Fire fighting teams were led by HPCL officers. J&K Fire services men and ESIC Hospital medical staff also contributed in the drill and their contribution was exemplary.
Goutam Sarkar, Plant Manager, HPCL explained the importance of conducting the mock fire drills, which equips the person with complete confidence fighting the actual fire.
He said that apart from showing preparedness to meet any eventuality such drills are also aimed at inviting valuable suggestions from the viewers for further improvement.
Later, experts from J&K Fire Services Department gave a practical demonstration and training on fire fighting, hose handling and sign language to the fire fighters of HPCL.
SC Verma, Divisional Fire Officer, Samba gave a classroom training to HPCL workmen and security staff and shared his valuable experience with fire fighters of HPCL.
Manzoor Hussain Malik, Incharge Fire Service Station, Bari Brahmana along his men gave practical training on hose handling and fire fighting to fire fighters in field.
