BHADARWAH, Jan 3: Chairman District Development Council (DDC) Doda, Dhanantar Singh Kotwal along with Officer Commanding 118 RCC (GREF), Y.K Gautam and other officers today inaugurated the much needed bridge on Bhadarwah, Bani, Basoli and Pathankot (BBBP) National Highway near Basti area here.
Constructed with an estimated cost of Rs. 7.72 crore, the New Basti Bridge in Bhadarwah has 55 meter span and the project is said to be a boon for travellers of diverse interests who wish to embark on adventurous journey to Bhadarwah.
“New Basti Bridge on BBBP National Highway for general traffic is an engineering marvel,” Dhanantar Singh said while speaking on the occasion.
A handout stated that for this Bridge project in Bhadarwah, the credit goes to 118 RCC (GREF) which braved untoward environmental situations and worked on the project day and night.
The Bridge is believed to play an important role in linking destinations like Bhadarwah, Bani, Basoli and Pathankot.
The old Bridge has been replaced by new Bridge utilising a whopping investment in the project to bring forth an exemplary engineering edifice.
“The bridge and BBBP road is thought to play an important role in the lives of public by creating new employment opportunities for the people of Bhadarwah,” Officer Commanding 118 RCC noted.
Undeniably, there is a lot of tourism potential in Bhadarwah and the tourism sector is construed to act as the main source for the people of this region.
Famous tourist resorts of Thanthera, Gul Danda and Sarthal are located on the same Bhadarwah, Bani, Basoli and Pathankot National Highway and the two lane bridge on this road is said to be an important factor for smooth commutation of both tourists as well as public.
Notably, the work on the bridge was being executed under the supervision of Lt. Col. Y.K Gautam (OC) 118 RCC GREFF, OIC Rajesh Pandey, Engineers and JEs of the establishment in uniform.
