Jammu, Jan 3: Shri Guru Ravi Dass Sabha (SGRDS) Bahu Fort today celebrated the 191st birth anniversary of prominent social reformer and educationist Savitri Bai Phule.
Sham Lal Basson, the General Secretary of SGRDS Bahu Fort said, “our organisation celebrated the birth anniversary of the former educationist by organising a quiz competition on the life and mission of Mata Savitri Bai Phule and Mahatama Jyotirao Phule on December 28, 2022.”
According to him, Jyotsana Kalsi bagged first position in the competition, Sanjeev Bhagat second and Sneha Bhagat third position respectively. He said Mannat Khokar was adjudged third among 10th and above category and Umang stood first among the middle class category.
Today, he said, the Sabha honoured the winners with Ambedkar-Shahu-Phule Awards. A medical-cum-awareness camp was also organised on this occasion where free consultation and medicines were provided to the needy persons by Dr Vias Dev, orthopaedic surgeon, Dr Vinod Katli, physician and Dr Samriti.
“Around 200 persons were screened in the camp and 100 BMD tests were done free-of-cost for assessing the bone health of the people screened,” Basson said.
Dr Samriti also delivered a lecture on the general awareness for adolescent girls.
Meanwhile, the wives of the prominent chairpersons, presidents and general secretaries belonging to SC and OBC organisations were also honoured by Dr Vias Dev and Dr Samriti on the occasion.
Those who were honoured include Sunita Bangotra, Santosh Kumari, Viaso Devi, Chanan Devi, Jyoti Devi, Anuradha, Veena Kumari, Rani Devi, Sunita Panotra, Asha Rani, Bimla Devi, and Hem Lata.
Sewa Dass Digra, Janak Thapa, Brij Mehra, Er VK Kundal, Sham Lal Kundal, Sat Paul Bavoria, TC Bavoria, Baldev Raj Nargotra among others participated in the programme.
BJP OBC Morcha also paid floral tribute to Savitri Bhai Phule a great social activist on her birth anniversary here today
A function was held by the Morcha in this connection in which Sunil Prajapati State president BJP OBC Morcha, Rajesh Gupta General Secretary BJP district Jammu, Raj Kumar Babbar and Suresh Salgotra, State vice presidents BJP OBC Morcha, Anil Balgotra its State secretary, Ashok Salgotra district president of Morcha, Rakesh Panday Mandal president Ambhphalla, Deepak, Pawan Salgotra , Kamal Verma , Ved Parkash, Rajesh Kumar ,Budh Veer, Jia Ram Chander and Ravi Ji were present and paid floral tribute to her.
Sunil Prajapati said Savitribai Phule was an Indian social reformer, educationist, and poet from Maharashtra. She belonged OBC community and personifies the indomitable spirit of Nari Shakti. Her life was devoted to educating and empowering women.
Equally inspiring is her focus on social reform and community service.
