JAMMU, Jan 4: The Jammu and Kashmir Border Area Development Conference (JKBADC), an organization working for the welfare of residents of border areas of J&K, has requested the district administration Poonch to evict all illegal occupants of government accommodation in district Poonch.
Dr Shazad Ahmed Malik, Chairman of the BADC and former Vice Chancellor expressing his disappointment over the attitude of the district administration of Poonch in their dealing with illegal occupants, demanded that immediate legal action should be initiated against all occupants of government accommodation in the district.
Dr Shazad alleged that several politicians and former legislators are illegally occupying government accommodation including government guest houses, tourist reception centers, Dak Bungalows and even government employees quarters without any authority.
He said many of these illegal occupants even do not pay any rent for the accommodation being used by them. He asked the Deputy Commissioner Poonch to publish the list of all illegal encroachers on the official website of District Poonch and also in newspaper and take all legal means to evict them including recovering all the dues from them.
He alleged that some former legislators are even using illegally occupied govt accommodation as their party office.
The BADC Chairman said that real deserving government officers do not get the government accommodation in Poonch town, Mendhar and Surankote whereas, these politicians have occupied the government building without any allotment and without any fear of law.
He stated that if the district administration Poonch fails to get the government buildings vacated from these people then his organization may move to court of law to ensure that loss to state exchequer is plugged.
