SRINAGAR Jan 4: Police today arrested two drug peddlers in Kupwara and recovered 2 kilogram heroin from their possession.
A police spokesman said here that acting on specific information regarding smuggling of narcotics in a vehicle (Tata Mobile) bearing Registration Number JK09C-1179 with two persons on board identified as Amjid Mir son of Mohammad Aslam Mir resident of Bijildar forward Jabdi and Mashkoor Ahmad Malik son of Ali Yaar Malik resident of Hajitra, travelling from Teetwal towards Taad, Police established a checkpoint.
He said that Police accompanied by a Magistrate at a checkpoint established near Bandi intercepted the vehicle. “During search, 02Kgs of heroin-like substance concealed in two packets were recovered from the said vehicle. Both the accused persons have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody. The vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized,” he said.
A case has been registered and further investigation has been initiated.
