Udhampur, Oct 27: National Panthers Party today celebrated the Accession Day of Jammu and Kashmir to Union of India with holding of a massive rally followed by a grand programme at Mini Stadium, Udhampur.
NPP Supremo Prof. Bhim Singh, Chairman and MLA Harshdev Singh, President and MLA Balwant Singh Mankotia, ex-Minister and MLA Yashpal Kundal, reiterated that the accession of the State to India is complete final, irrevocable and thus unchangeable and those trying to create confusion over the same should be tried for treason.
The NPP leaders maintained that party would form the next Government in the State and the pro-separatists and communalists parties would face a crushing defeat at the hustings.
National Panthers Party demanded that Oct 27 should be celebrated as National Day and a holiday should be declared as Accession of Jammu and Kashmir was defeat of “Two Nation Theory” of Muslim League leader Mohammad Ali Jinnah and victory of secular forces. He said that people of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh irrespective of caste and religion stood like a rock behind Maharaja Hari Singh who decided to accede to India to maintain the secular character and integrity of the State.
Harshdev Singh said that “It is shameful for the Chief Minister of the State to raise suspicion over the celebration of Accession Day, when Maharaja of the State signed himself the instrument of accession to India on Oct 27, 1947 and nobody in the constituent Assembly raised even a whimper of suspicion including his own Grandfather Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah, who defended and supported the Accession to Indian Union.”
Panthers Party president and MLA Balwant Singh Mankotia said, “It is unbecoming of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah swore for upholding the integrity and sovereignty of the Indian Union is trying to raise confusion over the Accession of the State on this day when Maharaja of the State signed instrument of accession with the then Governor General of India, Lord Mountbatten.
He said that BJP garnered heavy vote bank in the last Assembly election on the ground of Amarnath agitation when they promised to serve the interest of Jammuites, but is now shameful that they have openly become team B of the National Conference .” They betrayed Jammuites with futile promises but no implementation, he added.
Earlier, national Panthers party activists took out a rally from Rehmbal and after passing through the main bazaars and localities of Udhampur assembled at Mini Stadium to celebrate the Accession Day. NPP leader hoisted the National flag on the occasion.
