JAMMU, Jan 6: Two persons were killed in two separate road accidents occurred today on outskirts of Jammu City.
According to the reports, a pedestrian namely Rajinder Kumar (55) son of Girdhari Lal and resident of Gharota, was hit and severely injured this morning by a speeding bus bearing registration number JK02CL-5499 at Doomi on Jammu-Akhnoor National Highway.
The injured man was immediately rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) Jammu, where he was declared as brought dead by the doctors. “After postmortem, the body of the deceased was handed over to his legal heirs for last rites while a case in this connection was registered in Police Station Kanachak and further investigation started. Efforts were also on to nab the driver of the bus, who fled from the crime scene leaving behind his vehicle.
Meanwhile, a speeding car, which was on its way from Nagrota towards Kunjwani, rammed into divider of the road at Sidhra on National Highway. In the mishap, which occurred this afternoon, driver of the car identified as Manan Sachdeva (26) son of Sunil Sachdeva and resident of Haryana, sustained serious injuries. He was immediately taken to ASCOMS Hospital Sidhra from where he was later referred to GMCH Jammu, where doctors declared him as brought dead.
The body of the deceased was sent for postmortem while a case in this connection was registered at Police Station Nagrota and further investigation started.
