Srinagar, Jan 7: J&K Peace Forum (JKPF) today alleged that the Government of India has failed in rehabilitating the Kashmiri Pandits who are living in exile for the last several decades while also urging the Government to release all the political prisoners and youth of Kashmir lodged in various jails of the country.
Addressing a press conference here, Satish Mahaldar said that the Government has failed to restore the fundamental rights of Kashmiri Pandits and has utterly failed to rehabilitate the indigenous people.
“In such a big, vibrant and democratic country, the Kashmiri Pandits are suffering; big promises have been made by various Governments, but they have failed,” he said.
He said that the current Government has even failed to fulfil the promises made to the people of India in the Parliament regarding bringing back Kashmiri Pandits who are suffering for a long time now.
“I urge the Government to rehabilitate the migrants back to the Valley and come up with a policy and announcement before the first of May onwards,” he said.
He said that if the Government fails to do as demanded “we will go for a protest from Kashmir.”
He urged the people of Kashmir, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and the Waqf Board to make the necessary arrangements to rehabilitate all the Kashmiri Pandits back to the Valley.
While pitching for the rehabilitation of the Kashmiri Pandits, Mahaldar also demanded that the political prisoners and youth of Kashmir who are lodged in various jails must be released without any further delay and at the same time sought measures to be taken for the safety and security of people of Kashmir.
