MENDHAR, Jan 7: The Lawyers Association Mendhar has opposed a list issued by the Revenue Department and alleged that poor and lower middle class people are being harassed while influential people are not being touched.
Addressing a press conference at court complex here today, Advocate Raja Mehmood Khan said that Revenue authorities in Mendhar and Poonch has prepared a list claiming that huge State land has been encroached upon by the people. He said Lawyers Association strongly oppose any such move of the Government. The Government must review its decision.
Mehmood Khan questioned the Government move and demanded that those influential people who have encroached upon hundreds of kanals of Government land should be evicted first by taking strict action. He said the people who are poor and have hardly a few marlas of land should not be harassed.
