Congress committed to solve problems of border areas: Haque

JAMMU, Oct 28: In view of situation along Indo-Pak border arising out of unprovoked firing from across the border AICC secretary incharge J&K Mainul Haque (MLA) alongwith senior Congress leaders including former Minister R. S. Chib visited border areas of R.S.Pura sector, today.
While addressing largely attended public meetings at villages Abdullian, Karutona Khurud and Suchetgarh, Mr Haque condemned the continued Pakistani shelling on border causing heavy loss to human lives and property and said that Congress fully stands with the people living on border and is committed to sort out the problems being faced by them. He asked the Government to take all possible steps to ensure safe harvesting of paddy crops in border areas.
AICC secretary further said that Congress stands for upliftment of weaker and downtrodden sections of the society and to fight the communal forces, who are out to divide the people on caste, creed  and religion. He urged the people to remain vigilant and united against these forces and their false propaganda.
Mr Chib highlighted the problems of refugees of 1947, 1965 and 1971 and demanded one time settlement and special package for their rehabilitation.
Prominent leaders who also addressed these meeting included former Minister Manjit Singh, PCC secretary Manmohan Singh, Darshan Raina and Panchs & Sarpanchs of border villages.
