SVO nabs Patwari taking bribe

JAMMU, Oct 28:  The Vigilance sleuths today arrested a Patwari who was caught red handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 5000 for providing revenue extracts to a civilian.
The accused, identified as Dinesh Singh alias Tara, a resident of Khour, RS Pura and Patwari Halqa Toph Sherkhania, had demanded an amount of Rs 20,000 from one Vijay Kumar of Sarwal Colony, Jammu for issuing revenue extracts of his land for obtaining a loan from J&K Bank.
On getting a formal complaint in this regard, the Vigilance Organization Jammu laid a trap under the supervision of SSP Vigilance Organisation, Jammu, Rupinder K Chalotra and arrested Patwari Dinesh Singh from Toph Sher Khania while accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 in presence of independent witnesses.
The accused Patwari was taken into custody on spot and lodged in Vigilance police station lock-up. Further investigation in the case was on.
The SVO team in the trap was led by Rajinder Salgotra, DySP and assisted by Himmat Singh, Kamal Sangra and Bhatu Choudhary, all Inspectors.
