ACB books JE, others for misappropriation of funds

JAMMU, Jan 10: Anticorruption Bureau has registered a case against Junior Engineer Suresh Kumar and others for misappropriation of funds.
According to the ACB, a verification was conducted into the allegations of the execution of different link roads under PMGSY Scheme in league with some officers and officials of the Revenue, Horticulture as well as PMGSY Department Kishtwar, who had drawn illegal /fraudulent bills in the form of compensation which was not due to beneficiaries.
Some persons have drawn compensation of structures and fruit bearing trees which have not come into the alignment of K.K Road there by caused loss in crores to the Government exchequer etc. During the course of verification, it came to fore that compensation was paid illegally in respect of flour grinding mill belonging to Nath Ram, son of Gokal Chand of Anjole and one structure belonging to Ashok Kumar, son of Sulla Ram of Anjole, structure belonging to Nazir Ahmed, son of Nasrullah Kripak.
The verification further revealed that the fictitious structural compensation cases/ site plans belonging of these three structures were prepared and submitted by JE Suresh Kumar and others. In this way the then JE Suresh Kumar and other officers/officials by abuse of their official positions and under well knit criminal conspiracy prepared the compensation cases in order to confer undue benefits upon themselves with corresponding loss to the tune of Rs 8.57 lakh to the Government exchequer.
The facts constitute commission of offences punishable under Section 5(1) (c) (d) read with 5(2) J&K PC Act and Sections 467, 468, 471, 120-B RPC against Suresh Kumar then Junior Engineer PMGSY Division Kishtwar and beneficiaries.
