JAMMU, Jan 11: The protest of Safai Saathis working with Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) here today entered day 3 and their leader Rinku Gill announced that they will continue the Kaam Chhoro Hartal which started today as their meeting with Commissioner JMC failed to reach any conclusion.
The protesting Safai Saathis raised slogans in favour of their demands.
Rinku Gill said that JMC Mayor, Rajinder Sharma has recently announced that 600 JMC workers have been regularised but there is nothing on ground regarding that as none of these workers have got any letter showing their regularisation.
Meanwhile, Mayor JMC, Sharma yesterday told an interview that process of verification of details of the Safai Saathis is underway for their regularisation and it takes time.
Gill informed that for 600 posts of Safai Saathis forms were filled in 2019 and these posts were advertised in 2017 and interviews were also conducted for these posts.
“So far the selection list for these posts has not been declared,” Gill maintained.
He informed that on December 26, 2022, JMC issued an order stating that there was no hike in salary for unskilled, skilled and highly skilled workers.
The leader of Safai Saathis said that in November last year the salary of these three categories was hiked but as per the order of December 26 these workers are entitled to get salaries which they used to get earlier.
