233 bovines rescued, 19 smugglers arrested across Udhampur

UDHAMPUR, Jan 12: Intensifying its drive against bovine smuggling, District Police Udhampur, led by SSP Vinod Kumar, has rescued 233 bovine animals and arrested 19 smugglers in last 12 days.
In this regard, 20 cases of bovine smuggling were registered at various Police Stations across the Udhampur district.
Under the supervision of Addl SP Udhampur Anwar Ul Haq, nine cases were registered in Police Station Rehambal while seven cases were registered in Police Station Udhampur under the supervision of Gurmeet Singh, Dy SP Hqrs. Udhampur.
Other than this, three cases were registered at Police station Chenani under the supervision of SDPO Chenani Ahmed Shaafi while one case was registered in Police Station Ramnagar, led by SHO Pushpinder Singh.
In all these cases, total 19 bovine smugglers were booked under law and according to Police, some more arrests were expected. Fourteen vehicles used in the smuggling were seized while 233 bovines were rescued.
Addl SP Udhampur, Anwar Ul Haq briefed the manpower deployed on various nakas to remain extra vigilant in view of present security scenario and thoroughly check every suspected vehicle.
All police officers of District Udhampur have been directed by the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Udhampur to take stern action against bovine smugglers as warranted under law.
