House, shop gutted in fire at Janipur

JAMMU, Jan 12: A house and a shop gutted in a mysterious fire in Janipur area on city outskirts.

The incident occurred late last night in a house in Daily Excelsior Lane. In the fire incident, house and a shop belonging to Pushpa Devi were gutted in fire. Though, Pushpa Devi and his lone son, who were inside the house at the time of incident, escaped unhurt, all household articles including kitchen appliances and ration gutted in the fire.
Besides this, a pharmaceutical shop in the premises of their house, also came under the fire and medicines worth Rs 4-5 lakh which were kept in the shop of the fire completely turned into ashes before a fire tender reached the spot to douse flames. As per sources, the shop was given on rent to a pharmaceutical distributor.
Janipur Police had taken cognizance of the matter.
