Sahitya Akademi Translation Award to Gauri Shankar Raina

JAMMU, Jan 13: Sahitya Akademi has announced the declaration of the Sahitya Akademi Translation Award 2022 in Hindi to Gauri Shankar Raina for his translation Kashmiri Ki Pratinidhi Kahaniyan, of the Kashmiri short stories by various authors.
The book was selected on the basis of unanimous decision by the jury. The award in the form of a casket containing an engraved copper-plaque and cash prize will be presented to Raina at a special function to be held on a later date this year.
Gauri Shankar Raina is a noted Hindi-Kashmiri fiction writer, playwright and broadcaster. Has Ph.D. and Master’s degrees. His one-and-half dozen books have been published from prestigious publishing houses including Sahitya Akademi. His short stories, plays and articles have been published in prestigious literary journals. He has translated all the important Kashmiri writers into Hindi, including Rehman Rahi. Dr. Raina was Producer-Director of Television Programmes, Doordarshan; Founder Producer of programmes like Aaj Savere, Evening Live Show and Kitabnama at Doordarshan, Delhi; former Head and Controller, Media Centre, IGNCA. His documentary films were screened at prestigious venues like the United Nations, the SAARC countries etc.
