Rajesh Gupta seeks early elections, restoration of statehood

JAMMU, Jan 14: National Democratic Party Indian (NDPI) UT President Rajesh Gupta today demanded early elections followed by restoration of Statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing a workers’ meeting here, Gupta said: “The BJP has been trying to rule J&K directly from the Centre. By doing so, the party has been denying the people of J&K their democratic right to be governed by an elected government.”
Reacting to Union BJP leaders’ recent statement about holding early elections in Jammu and Kashmir, the NDPI UT president said, “it’s been over 8 years since last elections were held in Jammu and Kashmir and since then the party leaders have been adopting dilly-dallying tactics with regard to holding elections.”
“So, these statements by the Union BJP leaders with regard to holding early elections in J&K are nothing but eyewash,” he said.
Meanwhile, the NDPI Chief said that he will continue to fight for the constitutional rights of people of Jammu and Kashmir.
