JAMMU, Jan 14: All Minority Employees Association of Kashmir (AMEAK) today made it clear that its delegation which called on Lt Governor, Manoj Sinha here on January 12 has put forth the genuine demands of the package employees serving in the Valley.
Sanjay Koul, who led the delegation to LG while talking to the reporters here, today along with other members said they submitted a memorandum and had thorough discussion over that. The main points of the memorandum included, NIA investigation and judicial probe into targeted killings and enhancement of compensation thereof.
He said prevailing security scenario was also discussed and it was demanded amicable and viable solution to overcome fear psychosis of selective targeted killings, secure and sufficient accommodation, reframing of SRO-412 & SRO-425; comprehensive transfer policy, setting up of district level and division level Grievance Cells for minority employees of Kashmir, single window system for disbursement of salaries and service management, implementation of Old Pension Scheme for PM package employees announced in 2008 and family pension to NPS employees.
The delegation requested LG to overcome the fear psychosis erupted among employees belonging to minority community of Kashmir due to targeted killings, the amicable and viable solution in the benefit of employees should be found to deal with the current turmoil situation. The delegation also requested LG to release the pending salaries of the employees keeping in view the festivals particularly the upcoming Shiv Ratri festival and settling the ongoing off duty period thereof, which the LG assured will be done as soon as possible. The delegation also requested LG that there are some employees who are suffering from life threatening disease and need to be transferred to Jammu on priority basis which he assured will be done.
Koul said the delegation also discussed the problems of the dependents of martyrs and demanded enhancement of ex-gratia to Rs 25 lakh for their families.
The Lt. Governor after hearing the demands and the problems being faced by the employees assured full support to address the issues. The delegation included Avtar Krishan Bhat convener AMEAK, Rohit Raina its general secretary, Vinod Koul and Arvind Bhat vice-presidents. AMEAK expressed sincere gratitude to Lt. Governor for listening the grievances and expressed the hope that the Government will address the problems in the larger interests of the package employees.
