JAMMU, Jan 15: Various Sikh organizations J&K held meeting under the chairmanship of Mohinder Singh, chief organizer Bhai Kanahiya Nishkam Sewa Society J&K and former member DGPC Jammu and appealed to the Prime Minister Narinder Modi and Home Minister for restoration of statehood and Assembly election in Jammu and Kashmir.
They alleged that after abrogation of Article 370 and 35A, the claim of the Government for development of Jammu and Kashmir is merely a hollow slogan.
It is also demanded that out of 24 reserved seats of 1947 refugees of PoK, eight seats of Assembly and two seats of Parliament be allotted to refugees settled in Jammu province and Kashmir province. “Out of eight Assemblies and two Parliament seats, four Assembly seats and one Parliament seat should be allotted to Kashmir province, while four Assembly seats and one Parliament seat to be allotted to Jammu province,” they demanded.
“The Punjabi language to be given the status of official language in Jammu and Kashmir along with a High Court Judge to be appointed from the Sikh community,” they said.
Since independence no Sikh has been appointed as High Court Judge in Jammu & Kashmir, they alleged.
It was also demanded that the quota for recruitment be fixed to provide the job to educated unemployed who belong to Sikh minority community, while the representation to a Sikh be also given in the Public Service Commission and Service Selection Board as member.
The security should be provided to Sikh colonies in Kashmir at par with Kashmiri pandits, because the Sikh community suffered with massacres like Chhattissinghpura and others, they also demanded.
Darbinder Singh president Shiromani Akali Dal J&K, Rajinder Singh general secretary Shiromani Akali Dal J&K, Raja Singh Sarpanch, former-member DGPC Jammu, Ravinder Singh Sarpanch and many others were present during the meeting.
