Union demands Govt job, relief to family of deceased Lineman

JAMMU, Jan 16: Following electrocution of a Lineman, an emergent meeting of All Jammu & Kashmir Electric Department Linemen and Workers Union, Jammu, was held here today under the chairmanship of Mohd Anwar Malik.
While addressing the meeting, Mohd Anwar Malik said that Late Karan Singh Manhas, Tech IV Lineman was performing his duties on 12-1-2023 on LT Line at Lakkar Mandi, Division No.III, Sub- Div-II at Janipur, when he was electrocuted.
The leaders while addressing the meeting, lamented that the administration was silent about such accidents in which precious lives of workers has been put to end, merely due to negligence of the authorities. They demanded investigation in the accident and strict punishment to the erring officer/officials.
The leaders also demanded immediate relief of Rs 10 lakhs to next of kin of the deceased and Govt job to any member of the bereaved family.
During the meeting, a two minutes silence was observed for peace to the deceased Linemen, who died due to electric shock while performing duties.
Those who attended the meeting included Ashiq Hussqin, Anil Singh, Pawan Sharma, Kartar Nath Vijay Gupts, Kewal Krishen, Govind Ram, Ghulam Mohd Vijay Kumar, Jagdev Singh, Ankit and others.
