Srinagar, Jan 16: Residents of the Bade Waith village in the Gund Prang area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district are suffering due to the appalling condition of the approach road, while authorities watch as mute spectators.
Residents said that despite causing them a great deal of inconvenience, authorities never paid any attention to the village’s approach road. “Authorities and public representatives have repeatedly neglected us because they do not care about us at all. They show complete disregard for the plight of the general public,” locals said.
They said that they are unable to comprehend why the road has not been repaired since the previous decade despite being the only connecting link to the area. “Why this inner link route has not been maintained for ten years is beyond our comprehension. Even while we do not demand macadamizing it, the authorities can at least patch potholes,” locals said.
He continued that the people were in trouble since the route had become muddy following the winter and was now almost impassable for driving. “This inner link road is in such bad shape that it becomes impassable after a snowfall. As a result, we are unable to leave our homes,” locals said.
The villagers claimed that despite numerous discussions with the relevant authorities, nothing has happened as yet. “We have often asked the concerned authorities and public officials to repair or maintain this road, but nothing has happened to date because they have not listened to our pleadings, and the road continues to sustain significant damage,” locals said.
The villagers urged the LG, Manoj Sinha, to investigate the issue in order to lessen the suffering of the people.
