SRINAGAR, Jan 16: The United Forum of Bank Unions (UFBU) today launched a poster outlining their demands, through which they have also kick-started a movement which will compete with the All-India strike on January 30, 31.
In Srinagar, Riyaz Ahmad Bhat, State Secretary, All India Bank Officers Association for State Committee J&K and Ladakh along with several other officials launched the poster.
The demands, apart from several others, include 5-day banking in a week, revision of pensioners and recruitment in banks.
“There are local issues as well, like internal agreements are not honoured; there are several other demands which we will press for during these days,” Bhat said.
He said that 9 bank unions have come together to pitch for the fulfilment of the demands. “5 days in a week is a long pending demand. There is digital banking and the rush in the branches has already lessened. It will affect the general public,” he said.
He said that nodding the 5-day week will not affect the working at all. It is going to be in favour of the country as it is more feasible.
Bhat said that other demands too are important and that in days to come, the Unions involved will press for the fulfilment of these demands.
