JAMMU, Jan 17: National Democratic Party Indian (NDPI) has accused BJP of avoiding Assembly elections in J&K and continuing with direct Central rule.
Addressing a press conference here today NDPI J&K chief, Rajesh Gupta flayed BJP and accused Election Commission of India (ECI) for delaying elections.
“For more than four years, there has been proxy rule by the BJP,” he said adding that BJP in collaboration with ECI is denying democratic rights to the people of J&K.
The NDPI leader said that one more lie of BJP has been exposed as two senior BJP leaders B.L Santosh and Tarun Chug had claimed that Assembly elections will be held in J&K in April-May.
“The BJP cannot escape from elections forever. Today or tomorrow, they have to hold elections in J&K,” he maintained.
Gupta claimed that after revocation of special status and statehood from J&K in August 2019, the Centre has promised elections in the newly-formed Union Territory after delimitation.
