The family members of Puran Krishan Bhat were also present at the Raj Bhawan when LG handed over the appointment letter to Puran’s wife.
The family welcomed the initiative taken by Manoj Sinha and his administration in providing the Government job to martyr’s wife which they said had lost all hopes after the killing of its lone bread earner by militants in his native village Choudary Gund in Shopian district of South Kashmir.
The family said though they owned apple and walnut orchards in the village over 100 kanals of land and were well to do but, the militants’ spelled a doom for them by snatching their lone bread earner.
The family members, however, expressed their full satisfaction over the steps taken by Government in providing them timely relief. Puran Krishan Bhat has left behind his wife Sweety, one daughter reading in Class 8th and a son studying in class 6th.
She has been provided a job in Sheep Husbandry Department by the Government which the family said is a sort of solace to it under the given circumstances.
The family members, however demanded a thorough probe into the conspiracy that led to killing of Puran Krishan. Ashok Kumar, a kin of martyr said that they appealed the Lt Governor that the conspiracy in this regard be unearthed and the conspirators be dealt under law.
He said they put this demand before the Lt Governor and he assured that the family will be given justice.
Ashok Kumar said the family also demanded transfer of the elder brother of Puran Krishan to Jammu who is a Government teacher and was forced to leave Valley on the fateful day.
He said since he is the only elder male person who can look after the family of his younger brother as well hence he should be transferred to a suitable place in Jammu. He has already applied for the same and his transfer case is pending with the Department, Ashok added.
The family also demanded that the orchards and other left over property of the family in their native village be ensured protection from anti social elements.
