276 Kanals land retrieved in Kupwara, 14 Kanals in Shopian during anti-encroachment drives

SRINAGAR, Jan 18: Continuing anti encroachment operations in Kashmir, administrations of Kupwara and Shopian districts today conducted anti-encroachment drives in their respective districts and retrieved 276 Kanals and 14 Kanals of land, respectively from their jurisdictions.
In a major operation against land encroachers, District Administration Kupwara headed by Deputy Commissioner, Dr Doifode Sagar Dattatray today retrieved 276 Kanals of Kahcharai land from encroachers at Drugmulla in Kupwara. The drive was launched at Drugmulla by a team of Revenue department headed by Tehsildar Drugmulla Dr Ajaz Ahmad in presence of SHO Drugmulla.
“This big patch of 276 kanals of land was encroached by just three families, who reportedly sold the land, as 5 marla plots”, informed the Tehsildar adding that the detailed report with survey numbers are being prepared and the expenditure for removing the encroachment will be realized as arrears of land revenue from the encroachers, for which necessary instructions have already been given by the authorities.
While talking about the anti-encroachment drive, the DC Kupwara said that anti-encroachment drives will continue in all the parts of the district to retrieve entire State and Kahcharai land encroached by the land grabbers.
Meanwhile, a Revenue team of Tehsil Keegam under the supervision of Tehsildar Keegam (Shopian) today conducted an anti encroachment drive at village Daramdoor and Diaroo in Shopian.
During the drive, land measuring 12 Kanals situated at Village Daramdoor recorded as State Land and land measuring 2 Kanals recorded as Kahcharai situated at Diaroo were retrieved from encroachers.
Tehsidar Keegam supervised the anti-encroachment drive and said that such drives shall continue in future also to retrieve encroached lands from encroachers.
