JAMMU, Jan 20: Lajwanti Bhagatnath (LBN) Radiations of Hope today kick started its World Cancer Day campaign by organizing a CME titled ‘Lung Cancer Update’, with support of American Oncology Institute (AOI) Jammu.
Commissioner Transport Rahul Sharma was the chief guest of the programme while Dr Rajinder Singh (Ex-Principal GMC Jammu), was guest of gonour. The event witnessed participation by leading Oncologists, Medical and Surgical Specialists and civil society.
The event has been posted on the official website of World Cancer Day 2023 by International Union Against Cancer, UICC Geneva. Dr Rahul Sharma (Associate Professor GMC Jammu) was the organizing chairperson while Dr Satyankar Gupta, Consultant Medical Oncology (AOI Jammu) was the organizing secretary.
The Programme began with lamp lighting and introduction by the Program Director Dr Deepak Abrol (Senior Consultant, Radiation Oncology, AOI Jammu). A session dedicated to Medical Physicist, Radiotherapy Technicians and Oncology Nursing was kept in the CME.
It was followed by lecture by Dr Abdul Wahid (Nuclear Medicine Specialist from GMC Jammu). Debates were held between Dr Rajpal Singh (Consultant SMVDNH) and Dr Avinash Rajra (Consultant, AOI Jammu) on management of early stage Lung Cancer. Another debate was between Dr Paras Khanna (Consultant Surgical Oncologist) and Dr Deepak Bharti (Consultant Medical oncology from SMVDNH0.
Dr Nadeem Shoket (Consultant Medical Oncologist from AOI Jammu) moderated the panel on Lung Cancer management. Panelists were Dr Sunny Jandial, Dr Rajeev Saini, Dr Abhinav Chowdhary. Other speakers included Manjinder Kaur, Silva Ganpathy, Shubham, Mudassar and Shireen Koser.
The event was coordinated by a team from AOI Jammu led by Vikrant Thakur, facility director, AOI Jammu.
Apart from senior doctors, other dignitaries present were Prof KB Abrol (chairman LBNROH), Shashi Khajuria (former Director, State Motor Garages), Arun Gandotra (former executive president, J&K Bank and Anil Dhar (leading social activist).
