JKTF leaders attend convention for restoration of Old Pension Scheme

JAMMU, Jan 22: Top leaders of Teachers Forum from Jammu & Kashmir participated in the grand convention for the restoration of Old Pension Scheme, which was held at New Delhi.
Led by Chairman Ganesh Khajuria, leaders of the Teachers Forum, including State Chief Coordinator J A Agah, Vice President Bashir Ahmad Thokar, Vice President Muneer Ahmad Khan, Provincial President Jammu Kuldeep Singh Bandral, Secretary Javeed Ahmad Malik, Chief Spokesperson Javeed Ahmad Bhat, Joint Secretary Peerzada Shareef-uddin, Gautam Singh & Mohammad Jaffar Rather presented the perspective of the employees of Jammu & Kashmir vis-a-vis the new pension scheme.
The convention, organised under the aegis of Joint Forum for Restoration of Old Pension Scheme, demanded a roll back of the new pension scheme which is giving sleepless nights to the employees governed by it.
Held under the theme “Scrap no Guarantee NPS and Restore the defined Guaranteed OPS” on behalf of all the Central Government employees, Employees of various autonomous bodies, State Government employees, paramilitary forces etc, espoused the genuine cause of the employees governed by the contributory New Pension Scheme.
On this occasion, an appeal was made to the Government of India & the State Governments to withdraw the New Pension System implemented to employees recruited on or after 01/01/2004 & bring the discriminated employees under the ambit of Old Pension Scheme.
The leaders pleaded the Government at the central and state levels to implement the GP Fund Scheme in favour of employees appointed on or after 01/01/2004 and deposit the entire employee contributed corpus along with the returns from their NPS accounts to GP Fund accounts. The leaders called the new pension scheme as discriminatory where the contributions are defined but the benefit is not defined.
Terming the biased new pension scheme as an injustice with the employees, Shiv Gopal Mishra, Convenor NJCA & All India Railway Federation, said that the new pension scheme does not give financial security to the employees post their retirement.
