Samba police arrests 6 thieves

SAMBA, Jan 23: Continuing intensive drive against thieves on the directions of SSP Samba, Benam Tosh, police have arrested six more thieves/ dishonest receivers of stolen property and solved two more theft cases. Stolen property including 24 tolas Golden ornaments, silver ornaments worth Rs 6 lakhs approximately, mobile phones worth Rs 35,000 approximately and cash amounting to Rs 11,860/- have been recovered.
Senior Superintendent of Police, Samba, Benam Tosh said that dishonestly receiving or retaining stolen property, having reason to believe that the same is stolen, is also a crime under law punishable with imprisonment up to three years or fine or both and thus, dishonest receivers of stolen property would face stern action under law and shall be arrested.
SSP further said that total 13 thieves and two dishonest receivers of stolen property have been arrested, six theft cases have been solved and stolen property worth lacs of rupees has been recovered by police just within a week’s time after launch of intensive drive against burglars.
Three thieves of stolen property have been arrested by SHO Police Station (PS) Bari Brahmana, Sunil Sharma and SDPO, Bari Brahmana, Rahul Nagar in case FIR No.12/2023 U/S 379 IPC, whereas three thieves, dishonest receiver of stolen property has been arrested by PSI, Vikrant Kotwal, PSI Aabber Khan, SHO Police Station, Samba, Deepak Jasrotia and DySP Headquarters Samba Mohammad Usman.
The arrested accused have been identified as Mohammad Maqbool of Qasim Nagar Bahu Fort Jammu at present Shiv Nagar Vijaypur, Rakesh Kumar Sharma of Laddau Power House Udhampur at present Shiv Nagar Vijaypur, Ram Kumar of Kodi Kanthan tehsil Arnas district Reasi, Ashok Kumar alias Akshay Sharma of Kanthan Gosal, tehsil Arnas district Reasi, Romesh Kumar of Deidutpura tehsil Maheshpura district Behrai (UP) at present TeliBasti Bari Brahmana and Pradeep alias Raju of Samba tehsil and district Samba.
Additional SP Samba, Surinder Choudhary is monitoring the investigation in the said theft cases.
