NC to foil communalist, fascist overtures in J&K: Slathia, Rana

JAMMU, Oct 31: Describing emergence of fascist and communal forces as a serious threat to uniqueness of the country’s pluralistic ethos, Senior National Conference leaders Surjit Singh Slathia and Devender Singh Rana on Thursday expressed concern over the politically frustrated elements of Jammu and Kashmir hobnobbing and joining them clandestinely to weaken the secular forces.
“For lust of power, some political entities of the State have developed a clandestine understanding with Bharatiya Janata Party”,  Provincial President Mr Rana said while welcoming new entrants to National Conference at a specially held function at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhavan here this morning.
He cautioned people to remain vigilant against peace inimical elements saying they may attempt to any mischief to vitiate the atmosphere ahead of elections to further their political interest. “We have witnessed just in the recent past how they exploited the situation and tried to plunge the State into frenzy”, he said, adding that National Conference will not allow such machinations to succeed.
Without naming any party, the Provincial President said that a particular right wing political organisation of the country has funded and aided an outfit in Kashmir with the sole objective of weakening National Conference. Despite their ulterior gameplan they could not weaken our resolve to maintain the unique and special entity of the State. He said his party is committed to satiate political, economical and developmental aspirations of the people of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh regions besides their sub regions. This, he said, has been amply made clear by the party President Dr Farooq Abdullah and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
Mr Rana said that National Conference will stand like a rock between the reactionary forces and the peace loving people of Jammu and Kashmir. “We won’t allow the fascist forces to spread their tentacles beyond Lakhanpur”, he declared.
Speaking on the occasion, Sr Vice President of J&K National Conference exuded confidence that with the joining of people, belonging to various shades of life, the mass movement launched by Sher-e-Kashmir will realise the vision he stood for.
Mr Slathia urged the party workers to work with a sense of commitment in remote areas ahd help in mitigating the problems of the people.
Those who joined National Conference included Divyam Bhardrwaj, the newly elected General Secretary Government Sri Pratap Memorial Rajput College of Commerce Jammu also joined the National Conference Student Union (NCSU) along with  Shakti Uppal, Shahbaz Khan, Virender Singh Jamwal, Manng  Gupta, Shallab, Rohit Singh Charak.
Several other prominent people of Kathua also joined the party on the occasion. They include Ravinder Singh, Rajinder Sharma, Sunil Kumar, Asgar Ali, Kuldeep Singh, Vijay Kumar, Deepak Banotra, Kartar Chand, Mustak Ahmad, Parveen Ahmed, Joginder Sharma, Latif Mohd, Jagdev, Vikrant, Jagandeep Singh, Jagmeet Singh, Gurpreet Singh, Maskin Ali, Mohinder Singh.
