CHENNAI, Nov 1: Two and three wheeler maker TVS Motor Company has reported a 3.92 per cent increase in sales in October, clocking 1,97,905 units.
The Chennai-based company had reported sales of 1,90,438 units during the same month of previous year, TVS Motor Company said in a statement.
Sales of two-wheelers increased by 1.93 per cent in October 2013 to 1,89,979 units from Rs 1,86,376 vehicles sold during the same period last year, it said.
Sales of two-wheelers in domestic market grew by 2 per cent to 1,73,229 units in October 2013 from 1,70,273 units sold during the same month in 2012.
Motorcycle sales grew by 13.2 per cent during the month to 82,352 units from 72,687 units sold during the same month last year.
However, sales of scooters dipped by 4.2 per cent during the period to 42,124 units from 43,973 sold in October 2012, it said.
The company witnessed a significant increase in its exports rising 24.7 per cent in October 2013 to 23,154 units as against 18,563 units shipped during the same month of previous year.
Two-wheeler exports grew by 4 per cent to 16,750 units in October 2013 from 16,103 sold during the corresponding month of previous year.
The company said a substantial increase in sales was contributed by three-wheelers by rising 95.1 per cent to 7,926 units in the month from 4,062 vehicles sold during the same period in 2012. (PTI)
