LG-led panel to advice on NCC activities in J&K

JAMMU, Jan 27: Jammu and Kashmir Government on Friday constituted an advisory committee for the National Cadet Corps under the NCC Act, 1948 for the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
As per an order, the Lieutenant Governor-led panel comprising Chief Secretary, Administrative Secretary, Higher Education and School Education Department, Vice-Chancellor of Universities in the UT of J&K, Additional Director General, NCC Dte JK &L, representatives of GOC-in C/HQ NC & HQ WC, Director School Education Jammu and Kashmir, two Principals from colleges having senior division/senior wing NCC to be nominated annually by the Government of J&K, two headmasters/headmistress of school which provide a unit of junior division/junior wing NCC to be nominated annually by Government of J&K, Deputy Commissioner, Jammu and Srinagar, representative of Finance Department, any other member to be referred by the LG, J&K and Director/Additional Director NCC Dte J&K and L, shall make recommendations and tender advise to Central Government and to the Union Territory Government relating to the NCC activities in the UT of J&K.
“The committee will especially advise on the formation of new units and disbandment of existing units, sub-units; selection of colleges and schools which should raise units, selection of persons for appointments as officers in the senior and junior divisions, and any other matter which may be referred to it by the Central Government, UT Government or the Director General NCC as the case may be,” read the order.
It further said that the committee will also issue directions and tender advice to the officers commanding units of the Senior Division and Director Public Instructions on improvement of training and training facilities for cadets, improvement in discipline in the units and general welfare of the officers and cadets.
