Road Safety Club organises seminar on safety measures

JAMMU, Jan 31: Road Safety Club of Government SPMR College of Commerce organised one day Seminar on the topic “Awareness regarding road safety measures” here, today to commemorate Road Safety Week under the patronage of Dr. Surinder Kumar, Principal Government, SPMR College of Commerce.
Dr. Sakshi Sharma welcomed all the distinguished guests and introduced the theme of the seminar to the audience. The resource person, Raj Paul Singh, SP Traffic City, Jammu guided the students about traffic rules and road safety measures to reduce casualties due to road accidents. He encouraged the students to wear helmets, seat belts, not drive under the influence of alcohol and drive within the permissible speed limits.
He also made students aware about lane discipline, not driving against the flow of traffic (one way violation or wrong side driving), obey the traffic signal (red light jumping) and not use mobile phone while driving. He further emphasized to maintain a safe distance to reduce the chance of collusion and ensure the safety while driving.
Dr. Sakshi Sharma presented the vote of thanks. A large number of students from M.Com and BCA Department enthusiastically participated and interacted in the seminar. The faculty members present were Dr. Kanwaljit Kaur, Dr. Jaswinder Singh (member), Dr. Sumeet Kour (Member) and Dr. Divya.
In addition, road safety week is being observed in the college wherein the faculty members Dr. Shamim Ahmad, Dr. Sakshi Sharma, Dr. Jaswinder Singh, Dr. Sumeet Kour and Dr. Rajneesh Karloopia checked the traffic rules followed by the faculty members and students within college premises like wearing helmet, seat belts, carrying driving license, pollution check certificate and only two riders on two wheelers (both wearing helmets) etc. The Principal of the College appreciated the efforts of the Committee members in ensuring the safety initiative in the college campus.
