JAMMU, Nov 2: In a Public Interest Litigation highlighting pollution from Katra to Bhawan of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine, Division Bench of State High Court comprising Justice Hasnain Massodi and Justice Tashi Rabstan today issued various directions.
After hearing Advocates SK Anand and Jatinder Choudhary appearing for the PIL whereas AAG Seema Shekhar for the State and Senior Advocate DC Raina with Advocate Anil Verma for the SMVDSB, DB arrayed Executive Officer Municipal Committee Katra as party respondent and issued notice to him for filing reply within four weeks.
Division Bench also directed the respondents to submit a report to indicate the steps taken for removal of garbage from Katra to Bhawan and solid waste dumping sites identified by the competent authority for dumping and disposal of garbage removed from the city besides steps taken to ensure that such disposal does not cause pollution and nuisance for the people.
