POONCH, Feb 2: The Sub Divisional Administration Mendhar demolished several illegally raised shops and structures at Bus Stand Mendhar and cleared the encroached area of public stand.
Official sources said that following instructions from the District Administration, the SDM Mendhar Jahangir Khan along with SDPO, Tehsildar and SHO Mendhar and police force launched an operation during the day today and engaged JCBs to demolish illegal structures at Bus Stand Mendhar.
There was some resistance from the traders initially but due to deployment of many Police and CRPF men, the Administration carried out its operation smoothly and cleared illegal shops and structures raised on the Govt land at Bus Stand.
The locals of the area widely appreciated the Government action and said that some people using political influence in the past had grabbed Bus Stand land and raised shops there thus shrinking the Bus Stand area.
The SDM warned the people to remove encroachments themselves, if any made by them on Government land, otherwise, they will be evicted forcefully in couple of days. Similar, operation was expected at Poonch, Mandher and Mandi Bus Stands shortly, the official said.
