JAMMU, Feb 2: All India Migrant Camp Coordination Committee (AIMCCC) in its meeting at Jagti township today, discussed various demands of the displaced Kashmiri Pandits and accused the Government of ignoring the basic problems of hapless people.
Addressing the meeting, president AIMCCC, Desh Rattan Pandita said, that like its predecessors present Union Government has also not taken any concrete steps in rehabilitation of displaced people in their homeland Kashmir and asked how long the community has to lead the exiled life. He urged the Government to take immediate and drastic steps for the rehabilitation of the displaced Pandits in their homeland Kashmir and rid them from the pangs of migration. “The Government should fame a concrete policy in this regard as the youth of the community as well as relief holders are in great desperation”, he added.
He regretted that the displaced Pandits have not been provided the benefit of the public welfare schemes launched by PM Modi and his Mantra of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas and Sabka Vishwas has proved an eye wash for the displaced Pandits who have entered 35th year of their exile now.
He said the Government even did not pay the compensation to the houses of the Pandits which were razed to ground in nineties in the aftermath of the demolition of Babri Masjid and later during over three decade long turmoil. The steps regarding restoration of the migrant land and property besides the property of Hindu religious places also proved half hearted and one wonders whether the Kashmiri Pandits are in the scheme of things of Modi Government or not with whom the community has pinned high hopes.
While speaking in the meeting, Chairman AIMCCC B K Raina said KPs are important stake holders for Kashmir and it was our community which needs healing touch and support, but instead of that appeasement politics and policies of successive governments ignored them. He demanded political empowerment of KPs.
Ashok Raina, senior leader of the organisations appealed the community to come on a single platform for settlement of their long pending issues.
