24 gamblers arrested with over Rs 1.5 lakh stake money

JAMMU, Nov 4: Police today arrested twenty-four gamblers and recovered Rs 1,54,650 stake money and playing cards from their possession.
A police spokesman said that, on specific inputs, police party from Bakshi Nagar Police Station led by SHO Dileep Singh conducted a raid at Rajpura and arrested five gamblers along with Rs 21,000 stake money and playing cards.
The accused have been identified as Rahul Kumar, son of Madan Lal of Shalimar, Ashok Kumar, son of Sohan Lal of Shakti Nagar, Rakesh Kumar, son of Sian Dass of Rattian, district Samba, Anil Kumar Verma, son of Vijay Verma of Bhagwati Nagar and Sohan Lal, son of Madan Lal of Janipur.
A case under Gambling Act has been registered at Police Station Bakshi Nagar against the accused and investigation started.
Meanwhile, Rajbagh police busted a gambling den with the arrest of nine accused along with Rs 55,050 bet money and playing cards, he added.
On reliable information, police party from Rajbagh Police Station led by SHO Naresh Sharma under the supervision of SSP Kathua Mohan conducted raid at Chann Rorian area of district Kathua and busted a gambling den with the arrest of nine gamblers.
The accused have been identified as Sourab Gupta, son of Bharat Bhushan Gupta, Pawan Kumar, son of Ghasitu Ram, Surinder Kumar, son of Raghunath, Rampaul, son of Bansi Lal, Yashpaul, son of Dina Nath, Ashwani Kumar, son of Gopal Dass, Ravi Kumar, son of Rampaul, Kulbhushan, son of Radha Krishan, all residents of Chann Rorian, Janak Raj, son of Ram Parkash of Deriwala, Pathankote, presently living in Chann Rorian, he added.
Police recovered Rs 55,050 and play cards from the spot, he said.
A case under section 3/4/13 Gambling Act has been registered at Rajbagh Police Station and investigation started.
In another incident, police party from Nagrota Police Station led by SHO Parvez Sajjad under the supervision of SDPO Khalik Choudhary conducted raid at firing butt, Nagrota and arrested 11 gamblers with Rs 78,600 stake money and play cards.
The accused have been identified as Sham Khajuria, son of Hans Raj of Raj Tilak Road, Sukesh Khajuria, son of Sat Parkash of Pacca Danga, Vicky Kumar, son of Dina Singh of Bakshi Nagar, Raman Kumar, son of Dhani Ram of Ambphalla, Sunny Baru, son of Arvind Baru of Nanak Nagar, Sunil Sharma, son of Ramesh Chand of Subash Nagar, Sandeep Abrol, son of  Bhagwan Dass of Jain Bazaar, Darshan Kumar, son of Hari Lal of Durga Nagar, Pardeep Kumar, son of Om Parkash of New Plot, Suraj Atti, son of Sudershan Atti of Dogra Hall and Papu Kumar, son of Gori Lal of Kore Jagir, Nagrota.
