NEW DELHI, Feb 6: J&K Congress leaders and workers today staged a strong protest demonstration at Jantar Mantar, in Delhi against the eviction drive carried out by the UT Administration in the Jammu and Kashmir.
Scores of party workers headed by Shahnawaz Choudhary, party general secretary J&K Pradesh Congress Committee and DDC Surankote, Dr Jahanzaib Sirwal, spokesperson JK Congress and Madasar Choudhary, PYC general secretary, Aijaz Shah former NSUI president JNU, assembled near Jantar Mantar, Delhi and raised slogans in support of their demands.
Talking to media persons here, Shahnawaz Choudhary said that the present land order of J&K Govt shows the hypocrisy of BJP because on one side its leadership in J&K vows to work for the needy and on other the very same leaders ask their high command to ruin the lives of people living in peace for years together.
The Congress leader asserted that the Government in J&K has assured that the action will only be taken against the big sharks who had usurped the big land chunks comprising thousands of kanals of land but on ground the notices have been served to poor and marginalized sections of society having few marlas of land on which these underprivileged people have constructed their houses and small shops.
Shahnawaz said that the BJP Government is the most distrustful dispensation which the people of J&K have ever seen. Instead of teaching a lesson to big mafias who had captured state resources, the Government is showing its might on poor strata of the society, he added.
Party spokesperson Jahanzaib Sirwal said that there was no flaw in the process of enactment of Roshni Act because everything has been done under the law of land because the Act was passed in legally in the erstwhile state Assembly but it is strange and questionable that the very government which has passed this law through proper channel has not defended the same. He stated that those who have acquired the land under the Roshni Scheme are not guilty rather they have completed the formalities as the law of the land at that time.
Madassar Choudhary said if the Government is smelling rat then it should get hold of the officials who carried out deals in this regard and gave the rights to people to go ahead with construction and other works on these land chunks. He asserted that the order for eviction shows the real dirty face of BJP regime.
