JKNM reiterates twin city demand for rehabilitation of Pandits in Valley

JAMMU, Nov 5: Accusing the Government of India of turning blind eye to its own response of 1994 Geneva based prestigious International Commission of Jurists where in it has admitted that the targeted killing of members of Hindu community has resulted in the change in very demographic profile of the area and blatant religious cleansing, Jammu & Kashmir Nationalist Movement (JKNM) today demanded appointment of Commission of Inquiry to probe the same.
Talking to media persons here today, the JKNM convener, Dr K N Pandita, A K Raina, vice president AIKS, Veer Saraf, president RIK, S K Koul chairman Advisory Council JKNM, B L Pandita co-convener, JKNM, V K Kashkari its convener, Ratinder Koul, Vikram Singh said that despite the admission of Government that killings resulted into ethnic cleansing of minorities in Kashmir for changing the demography of the State, it failed to probe the same till date.
While deliberating on the report of UN Working Group on minorities, feed back report on interlocutors and 137th and 169th report of DRPSC with a convergent view of core issue of return and rehabilitation of displaced people, the JKNM leaders said the rehabilitation of KP IDPs in a twin city is the most viable option for which a memorandum has already been submitted to chairman Standing Committee Home Affairs.
They demanded constitution of Truth and Reconciliation Commission, fix responsibilities and issuance of white paper on the exodus of KPs, enrolment, upgradation, issuance of EPIC and to simplify the voting process of IDPs before the coming Parliamentary elections, appointment of Central agency to monitor the centrally sponsored schemes, passage of Hindu Shrines and Temples Bill and return and restitution of Kashmiri IDPs on four basic principles including concentrated and comprehensive living, non refoulment, recognition of specific identity and political empowerment.
