JAMMU, Feb 8: To get first-hand account of the public grievances, Deputy Commissioner, Avny Lavasa today presided over the weekly Block Divas programme here at Panchayat Dori in Block Kharabali. Scores of delegations from different Panchayats, besides scores of individuals apprised her about the problems being faced by them in day to day life.
BDC Chairman Dwarka Naty Sharma; SDM Khour, Anil Kumar Thakur; Tehsildar Ramesh Chandra with other officers from concerned departments and scores of local residents were present on the occasion.
The main issues highlighted during the programme were related to augmentation of water supply and power infrastructure. They also sought road connectivity to uncovered areas, cleanliness and transport facility for the area etc.
The DC gave a patient hearing to the delegations and passed on the spot directions to the concerned officers for early redressal of their genuine grievances.
The people demanded a transport facility for the area and also urged for blacktopping of the road and regular water and power supply.
The Deputy Commissioner asked the concerned authorities to provide SRTC bus service and encourage private transporters to apply for route permits for providing better transport services to the area.
The Deputy Commissioner assured that the highlighted issues of public importance will be taken up with higher authorities, besides all the pendency and public service delivery slackness shall be reviewed thoroughly. She also impressed upon the officers to work with zeal to achieve the targets ensuring the delivery of the benefits to the rural masses.
The Deputy Commissioner also inaugurated the Primary Health Centre at Panchayat Dori. She said that the government is committed to provide better healthcare facilities to the people at their doorstep.
