DODA, Feb 8: ARTO Er Kuldeep Singh and his team seized four vehicles and challaned more than 20 vehicles during night checking, here today.
The team comprising MVI Jasbir Singh, Vipan Parihar, Surinder Singh, Ravinder Singh conducted a drive on NH-244 with the assistance of District Police in view complaints of overloading by the vehicles operators on Jammu to Doda-Kishtwar route during night.
The bus operators carrying overloaded passengers during night services on this route were also checked.
The team laid the nakka at Ganpat bridge, Khellani and Malhori from 9 pm upto 7 am in the morning and during the checking, four vehicles were seized and a total of 20 vehicles including overloaded trucks, dumpers, passengers buses were challaned by the checking team.
The drivers were also checked for drunken driving with the help of breath analyser and one driver was found driving in drunkard condition beyond permissible limits. The driving licenses were retained for suspension of the trucks and dumpers found overload beyond permissible limit.
The ARTO Doda disclosed that such drives shall continue in future too to stop violations. He further impressed upon all operators to adhere with traffic rules and avoid conducting overloading in goods as well passenger vehicles. “The expected fine recovery will be about over 4.5 lakhs out of challaned vehicles from this drive,” he added.
