JAMMU, Feb 11: With the aim to strengthen the Paediatric and Neonatal Emergency & Critical Care facility, the Departments of Paediatrics and Neonatology, Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu conducted a CME cum workshop on the topic “Neonatal Functional Echocardiography and Point of Care Ultrasonography (POCUS) at SMGS Hospital, Jammu.
Principal and Dean, GMC Jammu, Dr Shashi Sudhan Sharma was the chief guest of the program. She emphasized upon adopting the point-of-care diagnosis in the Emergency Department in improving the Emergency and Critical Care facilities.
Speaking on this occasion, Professor and Head, Department of Pediatrics, Dr Ghanshyam Saini stressed upon expediting triage and time to diagnosis, as these are crucial in decreasing morbidity and mortality in critically ill patients and said that point-of-care testing has been shown to achieve these goals, leading to improved operational efficiency and, ultimately, better patient outcomes.
Dr Anumodan Gupta (Neonatologist), Dr Deepak Gupta (Paediatric Cardiologist) and Dr Radhika Uppal (Pediatric Cardiologist) are faculty of this CME program. They delivered lectures on the relevant topic and also conducted practical workshops for education of the Paediatricians attending the program.
Dr Ghanshyam Saini, Dr Ashu Jamwal (HoD Neonatology), Professor Paediatrics Dr Sunil Dutt Sharma and Dr Mohd Razaq chaired different sessions of the event. Dr Ashu Jamwal was the organizing secretary of the event. Dr Mansi Jasrotia, Junior Resident Doctor in Pediatrics, conducted the proceedings of the event.
About 60 doctors from Health Department (Periphery Hospitals) including from District Hospital Ramban, Udhampur; GMC Doda; ASCOMS Hospital Jammu and from AIIMS Jammu participated in the program. Besides, all the faculty members of Department of Paediatrics and Neonatology, GMC Jammu; Medical Superintendent and Deputy Medical Superintendent, SMGS Hospital, Jammu attended the program.
