USTA demands repeal of NEP-2020

JAMMU, Feb 11: 9th Triennial Provincial Conference of J&K United School Teachers Association (USTA) is going to be held tomorrow at Gurjar Desh Charitable Trust, Bypass Road Jammu wherein C N Bharti, general secretary of the School Teacher’s Federation of India (STFI) will be the chief guest.
On the eve of conference, a press briefing was held today for highlighting the demands and issues of the teachers. Talking to the media persons, C N Bharti and leaders of USTA drew attention towards the demands which include restoration of Old Pension Scheme, repeal National Education Policy 2020, maintain strict seniority at division level in promotions of Teachers to Masters as per existing norms, regularize Incharge Lecturers, Head Masters, ZEOs and Principals, etc.
Bharti alleged that NEP 2020 is a road to privatisation and commercialization of public education with which poor and vulnerable section of society will remain out from the reach of uniform and quality education. He also stressed upon the Government to withdraw New Pension Scheme which is not in favour of teachers and employees and demanded restoration of Old Pension Scheme.
He also appealed the teaching community of Jammu and Kashmir to participate in march to Parliament on February 24 at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi to focus on repeal of NEP 2020, ensure free, compulsory & quality Education to all, repeal NPS & PFRDA, implement Old Pension Scheme, regularise the services of all Temporary/Ad hoc/Contract/Term Basis Teachers & employees, etc.
On the occasion Pradeep Singh Jamwal, Malik Younis Rahi and Roop Chand were also present.
