JAMMU, Feb 12: In the recently concluded National Moot Court competition organized by Dharmashastra National Law University, Jabalpur, under the patronage of the National Human Rights Commission, Vansh Sharma (a boy from Jammu and Kashmir) currently pursuing a five-year law course from National Law University, Sonepat outshined 20 other National Law universities which participated from various parts across the country.
He finished in the runners-up position and was honoured by the chairperson of NHRC, Arun Kumar Mishra and former Justice of the Supreme Court, Sujol Paul. The Moot Court was held with the objective of raising standards of Clinical Legal Education in India.
In the first round, candidates were shortlisted on the basis of their written submissions (memorials) and then they were called for the preliminary rounds on the campus itself. Four teams qualified for the semifinals which comprised NLU Hyderabad, NLU Sonepat, NMIMS School of Bangalore and GNC Ernakulam. The winner of the Moot Court, GNC Ernakulam was rewarded with a cash price of Rs 50,000 for its triumph whereas the team of Vansh Sharma was rewarded with a cash price of Rs 30,000.
