Efforts on to improve socio-economic condition of rural areas: Javed

JAMMU, Nov 6:   Deputy Chairman, Legislative Council, Javed Ahmed Rana today said that the Government under leadership of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has initiated various flagship programmes with the aim to improve the socio-economic condition of the people of the State especially those living in rural and far-flung areas.
Rana was interacting with the various deputations who called on him here today. A deputation from Panchayat Halqa Chowadi Tehsil and district Jammu led by Sarpanch,  Mohammad Asgar also met the Deputy Chairman.
The Deputy Chairman said that the Government has launched various welfare schemes and appealed the people to take advantage of the same. He said that efforts are afoot to improve the socio-economic condition of the people living in rural areas, adding that sufficient funds have been earmarked under various sectors for different developmental programmes for these areas.
These deputations apprised the Deputy Chairman about their individual and collective problems. These included Chowadi area to be attached with the Gandhi Nagar Constituency instead of Samba, transformers erected by NHPC for the last three years under BPL category in the Chowadi Panchayat Halqa to be made functional, implementation of Roshini Act in tribal areas and black topping of Chowadi road.
Mr Rana gave patient hearing to them and assured  that their genuine demands will be looked into. In some cases,  he gave on the spot direction to the concerned for immediate redressal. He also issued directions to the concerned for immediate restoration of power supply and black topping of Chowadi road.
